Following the success of its guide to evidencing the benefits of business process improvement projects in higher education, the University of Strathclyde wants to develop the guide to make it even better. In this blogpost, Dr Nicola Cairns introduces a survey that will help to make the guide a valuable tool for use across the sector.

The Business Improvement Team at the University of Strathclyde has been awarded funding from the Leadership Foundation’s Innovation and Transformation Fund (ITF) to further enhance A Guide to Evidencing the Benefits of Business Process Improvement in Higher Education. Since the launch in July 2015, we have received over 6,700 visitors to our dedicated evidencing benefits website and more than 3,300 unique downloads of the guide.

The team at Strathclyde has helped deliver more than £330K of recurring efficiency savings and contributed to £4.7m of increased revenue to date using the approach and techniques outlined in the guide.

With the support of the ITF funding we want to broaden the key messages of the guide to translate to all change initiatives, provide additional resources that will support you in successfully implementing the approach in your environment, helping connect the evidencing of benefits to your institutional efficiency savings or value for money reporting.

To allow us to enhance the guide for use across the sector in a range of environments, we are keen to capture the feedback from those who are responsible for delivering any type of change and improvement programmes or projects, or those responsible for delivering increased efficiencies for their institution.

For those who are familiar with the guide, we are keen to understand if it has helped you to demonstrate the impact achieved from your projects or enhanced your way of working? What further support and information would be valuable to you?  We’d love to know what you think.

And for anyone not yet aware of the guide, we’d love to hear from you too. Is evidencing the benefits of your projects relevant to your way of working? What challenges do you face in demonstrating the efficiencies gained from improvements in your institution? How could the guide support you in this work?

Your feedback will be essential in making the guide a valuable tool for use across the sector

Please click on the link to our survey to tell us what you think of evidencing benefits.
